Don't forget to breath while I tell you what it is like to be in an awesome school program like AdVENTURE. I will tell you what AdVENTURE is about. It is a fifth through eighth grade program that is offered in the Oak Grove School District. AdVENTURE is a S.T.E.M. program which plans to prepare you for a successful future in high school and college. S.T.E.M. stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It includes the core subjects that most schools have like math, ELA, and social studies. However, at AdVENTURE, they are extra special. It also has an exciting science class and PE daily! In addition to these courses, there is one thing that AdVENTURE offers that most schools don't have. That thing is Globaloria. This is an elective. There aren't electives offered to fifth and sixth graders in our school district. It's a pretty special thing. Some of the tech tools we are lucky enough to use are Google drive, Edmodo (which by the way, is a cool academic social site), Blogger, Wix, Schooloop, and Brainpop. These are just some of the aspects of AdVENTURE. I will share with you much more right now, about my awesome adventures in AdVENTURE.
I have done many fun, special things in all my basic classes. I will share some of those things with you. ELA is fun because we get to learn to type fast on a site called typingweb and turn it in online. Math is fun because we get to learn about geometry and algebra and many more things that are math related. We also get to do some of the work on fun math game sites like Brainpop and Learnzillion. We have fun collaborating on group projects like learning to budget for a party and the volume of a three dimensional Minecraft character we constructed. Social Studies is fun because we get to learn about slavery and the civil war on a site called Mission US, which is a fun interactive site that you can play levels on the topics you choose to do on early American history. Science is great because we get lo learn about the inside of cells, body systems, magnetism, our solar system, and much more. We also get to use fun sites to learn and review fun things we did/didn't know. For instance, we use a site called Markothepencil.com for learning about science and a lot of other subjects relating to body functions and natural occurrences. Last but not least, Globaloria is fun because we get to make our own video games and mini games with our assigned computers.
These are just a speck of what AdVENTURE has to offer, but if you join this fun, amazing, and educational school, you will find out yourself.
Globaloria is a site that you do using the adobe flash program. You write down all of your progress and attach files to the wiki site. I created a video game that you had to find the parts of nyan cat and rebuild him. You have to make it by using adobe flash and making the parts of the game like the background and objects. You can make the objects have actions by adding a certain code to it. I also made a mini game. You have to get a bunny to eat a carrot and avoid a wolf while trying not to eat the chocolate and pizza.
I also use a lot of other technology in the AdVENTURE program. One tech tool I use is edmodo. Edmodo is an interactive site that you can communicate with students and teachers. Another tech tool I used is blogger. Blogger is a site that you can blog about projects and classwork. There are still more tech tools we used in school, but these are, in my opinion, the most important.
I think that AdVENTURE is a very fun school program. I have learned a lot from this school. It is a very exiting school to go to. I was able to do things at this school that I wasn't at my old school. For instance, I used a computer almost every day. It is interesting and fun to learn at AdVENTURE.
